Tempe is Arizona’s fifth largest city. Tempe is a part of the greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area and is bordered by Scottsdale, Mesa, Phoenix and Chandler. Downtown Tempe is 10 minutes away from Sky Harbor International Airport and 15 minutes away from downtown Phoenix.

- Weather – Being a virtual suburb of Phoenix, Tempe enjoys the same weather as does the rest of the Valley of the Sun. You will find mainly sunny days year round. The summers reach extreme highs often over 110 degrees. However the winters are mild and beautiful.
- School Districts - The Tempe Elementary School District is located in the heart of the “Valley of the Sun.” It encompasses an area of approximately 36 square miles including not only Tempe but also parts of Phoenix and the Town of Guadalupe. Arizona State University, the fifth largest campus in the nation (with more than 50,000 students) is within the district’s boundaries providing professional and educational opportunities.
- The 25 schools in the Tempe Elementary School District consist of 18 elementary schools grades kindergarten through five, a developmental special needs school, an Intervention Learning Program middle school, four middle schools grades six through eight and a brand new K-8 traditional school, Ward Traditional Academy, serving kindergarten through grade seven this year with hopes to expand next year. The district’s middle school concept addresses the unique needs of early adolescent students. This middle school structure establishes a nurturing environment as students experience the elementary to high school transition.

Whether you prefer contemporary art, live music from up and coming bands, art festivals, Broadway shows or performance art, Tempe fits the bill. At night visit a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed masterpiece, ASU's Gammage Auditorium.
